What wedding trends should we expect in 2023 you ask? Think big, bright & busy – in the best way! This is going to be the year of maximalism. Gone are the days of smaller, understated weddings & decor. This year, more is more and we are here for it! So check out the list below to see our favorite 2023 wedding trends.
Trend 1: BOLD FLORALS & COLOR PALETTES
With the wedding design and decor, we are seeing more flowers, significantly more color throughout, bold patterns that aren’t just paisley, over the top details like custom dance floors and non traditional decorated wedding aisles that make a statement. We saw the comeback of disco balls in 2022 wedding decor & expect to see much more of this Retro vibe paired with even more color this year, creating a stylish, fun energy!
Fiddlesticks Florals & Flowers by Garvey’s Gardens are great florists that can help create the statement for your day.

Trend #2: COLORFUL DRESSES, TOO!
Because color is going to be such a focal point in weddings in 2023, we expect to see some Bride’s walk down the aisle in blue, pink, purple or any other color or combination of. For brides still wanting to don a white dress but get in that pop, a dyed train or veil or adding colorful embroidered details on the dress or veil is a great way to achieve this. Reach out to Annelise Bridal to see what bold options they can offer!

TREND #3: INTRICATE CAKE DETAILS
Along with the adventurous use of color in decor and attire, we expect to see this in a retro fashion with wedding cakes this year as well. Colorful flowers will still be a popular way to adorn the cake but tinted, intricate piping is another way. Lambeth cakes are a blast from the past and are in demand. This vintage cake design is also a great way to add in “something old” to the day.
We have some fantastic bakers on the Western slope, such as Blue Sky Baking Co, Sweet Kiwi Bakery, and Afternoon Delight Bakery that have the amazing skills to create your statement cake!

TREND #4: UNIQUE GUEST EXPERIENCES
Experiences within the wedding event itself and extending the celebration for the entire weekend are going to be common this year. Offering welcome parties & post wedding celebrations are a great way to have more time to visit with those traveling and for the couple to feel as though they get to be a part of the party with their guests. At the wedding reception, we may start seeing more experiences such as 360 photo booths, caricature artists, opportunities to create the meal with ramen bars or hibachi. Incorporating performers in your big day is a great way to entertain guests while making lasting memories. Couple’s this year are being intentional with the ways they can spend time with their guests and are mindful to create engaging and memorable moments.

TREND #5: SMALLER WEDDING PARTIES
While we anticipate seeing a rise in guest counts and an increase in activities within the celebration, an area we may still find couples keeping it low-key & minimal is with their wedding parties. We are already seeing a shift in wedding party size decreasing and the expectations on wedding party attire becoming more flexible. Many couples are choosing to forgo the wedding party all together and rather, include special friends and family members by inviting them to get ready with them or give speeches at the rehearsal or wedding reception.

WRAP UP
These new trends are non-traditional and the reason we love the latest bold approach to the big day is because it allows for better representation… a visual if you will, of the couple’s personality and character. We’ve said goodbye to simply repeating what every bride before you has done and we are welcoming this new idea that allows you to do all the things, do them big and do them your way!
