Congratulations! If you’ve landed on this blog post, you’re probably beginning to think about planning your wedding. One of the first questions you probably have — other than “where the heck do I even begin?!” — is how to choose your Grand Junction wedding venue. The venue is the backdrop for your entire wedding day, and it’s a big first decision in the process! What sort of venues are even at your disposal here in the Grand Valley?
One of the great things about getting married near Grand Junction is the diversity of backdrops you have to choose from. Do you picture more of a winery theme for your big day, or are you more into desert vibes? Are the aspen and pine trees of the mountain your idea of a perfect wedding setting, or do you love the urban feel of the city’s downtown hub? Depending on your answers to your vision of the big day, you can narrow in on a location. We love when our couples have a great focus on the theme of their wedding, and this is the foundation of all that planning to come! Here are the main backdrops for your wedding in the area:
Wineries
Palisade is home to several wineries, some of which are available to host your wedding celebration. If a romantic vineyard is the perfect backdrop for your big day, Palisade might be the best fit for starting your wedding venue search. Restoration Vineyards is one of the newest winery venues in Palisade, and we are stoked to offer coordination and planning services for this beautiful space! It’s got orchard trees, grape vines, and great views of Mt. Garfield (not to mention pretty awesome wine.)
Colterris Overlook is another popular vineyard venue in Palisade with those great overlook views that are stunning at sunset! This venue features orchards, vineyard space and a lavender garden – great backdrops for your photos. Two Rivers Winery may not be in Palisade but it offers lodging on site and an incredible outdoor ceremony space with vines and views of the Colorado National Monument. Mesa Park Vineyards is a newer venue for those looking to host their smaller wedding in the vines. Finally, while it is a winery, the spaces of Varaison Vineyards are unlike any other winery wedding venue! With an English rose garden and gazebo area for your ceremony, and a covered patio space for receptions, it’s a great alternative to an average vineyard wedding.

Barn Venues
If wineries aren’t your thing, there are a couple really cool barn venues in the area! A newer barn wedding venue in Palisade called Orchard River View that is a massively popular location too! There is an orchard on site and the ceremony space here overlooks the Colorado River. Another popular barn venue, and one of our faves, is Vista View Events up near Rifle! With an all-white barn that overlooks Harvey Gap Reservoir and a huge field for larger events, this venue is versatile and stunning. Lastly, Maison La Belle Vie not only does a great brunch, but it hosts smaller weddings in Amy’s Courtyard, a beautiful yard with gazebo and historic barn spaces for your ceremony and reception.
Desert Vibes
Gateway Canyons Resort is south of Grand Junction and resembles Moab in its red sands and grand palisade towering above the resort. You’ll get lodging on site, a luxury experience and all the desert vibes and adventure you could ask for! Right here in Grand Junction is the Colorado National Monument, a miniature Grand Canyon, that allows weddings at a site overlooking the vast canyon below. You can host your ceremony there and celebrate with a reception down in nearby Fruita. Finally, if you want to make the short trek over to Moab, there are tons of amazing venues and areas out there too!
Mountains
If a mountain backdrop complete with a local ski resort is what you envision for your wedding, Powderhorn Ski Resort on the Grand Mesa is the perfect Grand Junction Wedding Venue for you! You can exchange your vows on the large deck outside the main building, which has a beautiful space for your reception all in one localized area. Condos at the resort offer a great getting ready space and lodging too.
Urban
If your wedding dreams are more of an urban setting the Historic Avalon Theatre is a great option. You can rent the theater space, rooftop lounge or a larger event space too. You’ll get great pictures with downtown Grand Junction as your setting! Another option in town is the Redlands Community Center for smaller celebrations. This historic building offers a lot of charm indoors and a beautiful wooded area for outdoor celebrations. Finally the Doubletree Hotel is an urban option with plenty of lodging for all your guests, a beautiful lawn to have an outdoor ceremony, and spacious ballroom for large wedding receptions.
DIY
Aaaand lastly if none of these are exactly your vibe and you’re looking for a venue with great views that you can customize to your vision, there are a few DIY venues like that around the Grand Junction area. One of our favorites is Palisade River Ranch, which is a large sprawling property with many options for where to host your celebration. It offers riverside space, a gazebo area, a pond with views of Mt. Garfield, and a grassy field perfect for your reception — with lots of trees and shade around the area too!
