You’ve made every decision in your wedding plans and are looking at the best day ever ahead of you. Unfortunately, though, the duties of wedding planning don’t stop the night before your wedding. You also need to plan for how to handle day-of wedding stress!

When I married my husband in the summer of 2015, I had already been planning events & weddings for a few years. I knew the best vendors & had relationships with them, I knew how to organize and coordinate, I made lists and I made my own day-of timeline. I thought that doing it all myself was a great plan and I was sure I didn’t need any help.

Cut to our big day: I am getting my hair curled and my make-up applied all while trying to direct my bridesmaids on final set-up details.

“The butter needs to be melted!”  (popcorn bar)

“Sangria needs to be taken down to the bartenders.”

“Where are the groomsmen?”

“Have the sodas been taken down to the bar?”

The day of your wedding is when all the moving parts of your wedding planning come together, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. Here are our top tips for how to handle day-of wedding stress:

Hire a Coordinator

Even if you don’t have a wedding planner, hiring a planner for wedding coordination is one of the best money you’ll spend on the event. Coordinators do this all the time, and can often have a good idea of what needs done when without anyone telling them. They can spot problems that might arise and fix them before they do. They probably even know your vendors and can help make every delivery run smoothly! Click here to see what all our wedding coordination services entail.

Have a Go-To Person

If you’re not able to hire a coordinator, you will still need to assign a go-to person for the wedding day. This person should ideally not be your parents or part of your wedding party – those people already have enough jobs on the day of! Plus that way it’s not a big deal if they should have to run off-site for something last minute. Find an aunt or good friend who is willing to get s*** done and be a little bossy. They should be able to accept the cake and flower deliveries, set up the card table, tell the boys where to be and when, and finalize any decorations. This probably goes without saying, but make sure this person is someone you trust, too! That way you know everything is in great hands.

Que Sera Sera

Having one of the two above suggestions will give you the most piece of mind and set you up for success on the wedding day! After that it’s important to sit back and relax. Everything will get done, and if it doesn’t it won’t be the end of the world. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and remember that at the end of the day, if you’ve married the love of your life the day was a success!
